Kay and I decided to take a trip to Austin, Texas to check out the area as one of many possible areas to relocate to in the future. Part of our trip includes a stop in Dallas to visit Daun and Johnny. We will be taking the roadster on this 3000 mile trip. We have planned our schedule and stops with some wiggle room. Our first day will be long as we plan on driving from Norfolk, Virginia to Jackson, Mississippi. The first day we will be texassigndriving almost 1000 miles or 15+ hours straight. We will then spend a day in North Dallas before driving down to Austin, Texas for several days followed by spending a day in New Orleans, Louisiana and then back home to Norfolk, Virginia via Atlanta, Georgia.

Day 1

Kay and I started the day waking up to a chilly morning. We packed the car the previous evening so we could get an early start. As the car warmed up we said goodbye to the animals and made sure we had all the electronics and miscellaneous items for the trip. Being we had a lot of miles to cover we decided to take the highway and skip the black top roads for this leg of our trip. We headed down I-64 towards Suffolk, Virginia to pick up Route 58 to Emporia, Virginia to catch I-95 missing the i95ncexit1majority of the traffic by leaving early. By lunch time we had made it past South of the Border to Florence, South Carolina where we stopped at exit 181B to top off the tank and grabbed a bite to eat at Wendy’s and of course a Blizzard from DQ. After a a quick stop to stretch our legs and fill our belly’s and car tank we continued on our way west towards Atlanta.
